Do I need permission to install CCTV on my property?

In most cases, no, you don’t need permission if the cameras only cover your own property. However, if your CCTV captures images beyond your boundary (e.g. neighbour’s property, public paths), you must comply with the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018. This means putting up clear signage and ensuring recordings are only used for security purposes.

Are your CCTV and alarm systems compliant with UK standards?

Yes, all our systems comply with British and European standards such as BS EN 50132 (CCTV) and PD 6662 / BS 8243 (intruder alarm systems). Our installations also follow NSI or SSAIB guidelines depending on customer requirements.

Do I need Wi-Fi or internet for the system to work?

CCTV can record locally without internet, but internet access is needed for remote viewing via smartphone apps. Alarm systems can also operate offline but require connectivity for app notifications or police monitoring.

How long does CCTV footage get stored for?

Most modern recorders store footage for 14 to 30 days by default. You can extend this based on your storage capacity. We’ll set it according to your preferences and GDPR requirements.

Can I view my CCTV remotely on my phone or tablet?

Yes. Our systems come with secure, encrypted mobile apps that let you view live footage, replay recordings, and receive motion alerts anywhere in the world.

Do you offer night vision or motion detection cameras?

Yes. All our CCTV systems include infrared night vision and motion detection as standard. We also offer AI-based smart detection for people, vehicles, and package delivery alerts.

Will my CCTV still work during a power cut?

Yes, with an optional UPS (uninterruptible power supply) or backup battery, your cameras and recorder will continue to operate for a limited time during power outages.

What’s the difference between a bells-only and a monitored alarm system?

Bells-only alarms sound a siren to deter intruders and alert neighbours. Monitored alarms are connected to an Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC), which can contact you, nominated keyholders, or even the police if verified activation occurs.

Can my alarm be connected to the police?

Yes, but only through a police-approved monitored system installed by an NSI Gold or SSAIB accredited company. The system must also have a valid URN (Unique Reference Number) issued by your local police force.

How much does a CCTV or alarm system cost?

Prices depend on the number of cameras, property size, and features (e.g., smart detection, remote monitoring). A typical home CCTV setup starts from around £400–£800, and alarm systems from £300–£700. We offer free site surveys for accurate quotes.
